Carrie Underwood has recently revealed that she had three miscarriages between 2017 and 2018. Her heartbreaking experience inspired her to write new music.

Carrie Underwood Talks 3 Miscarriages

The famous musician stated in an interview with CBS that she had a second miscarriage last year, and a third at the start of this year. When she lost her third child, she was devastated.

I have an incredible husband, incredible friends, an incredible job, an incredible kid. Can I be mad? No. And I got mad," she said.

The country singer originally planned her 2017 to be a year when she would have a child and work on new songs. However, it did not work out.

Underwood added that it would be immensely hard for her to pretend that she was happy when she was mourning her loss. However, her emotional experience pushed her to write her newest album Cry Pretty.

"I'm writing and, like, literally right after finding out that I would lose a baby, I'd have a writing session, I'd be like, 'Let's go. You know, I can't just sit around thinking about this. Like, I wanna work, I wanna do this,'" she stated.

The American Idol winner further shared that when she feared that there might be a fourth miscarriage, she was at her lowest point. She disclosed that she was just crying the entire time and thought about why she kept getting pregnant if she was not going to have a child.

The 35-year-old Grammy winner also turned to God during her problematic time. It was the first time she felt like she told God what her feelings were.

When she went to check with her doctor again to confirm what the state of her baby was, she was delighted to find out that everything was in good condition.

A Tough Year

Underwood already has a 3-year-old son named Isaiah. She is married to Mike Fisher, a hockey player. Before the singer opened up about her experience, she had garnered a backlash after she said that she missed her chance to have a large family because she was already 35.

She revealed that she had been discussing adoption with her husband and probably doing it when their children are grown up already. Although many people appreciated her openness, some thought that she was misinformed.

Currently, she is pregnant with her second child. Notably, the singer had to cancel two appearances because of illness.

She had an accident last year that resulted in a surgery to mend her broken wrist and 40 stitches on her face.
