The official unveiling of Google's upcoming Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL is just a few days away, but a new leak may have already outed their specs — partially, at least — and key features.
Put differently, everything there is to know about the new midrange Pixels has been practically revealed already.
Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL Leak
Droid Life got a hold of promo images of the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL that confirm their features.
For starters, they're going to have an "extraordinary camera" and the same Night Sight photography tech as seen in the top-of-the-line Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Speaking of mobile photography, they're also coming with Motion Auto Focus and a portrait mode, providing unlimited storage on Google Photos as well.
To no one's surprise, the smarts of Google Assistant are in the mix, including Call Screen, a tool to combat spam calls. In addition, since they are Pixel phones, Google promises three years of timely security and OS updates. There's also fast-charging support that provides seven hours' worth of juice in just 15 minutes.
The leak confirms their color options as well: white, black, and purple. The Pixel 3a in purple has been leaked before (as pictured above), which has been described as "purple-ish," "iris purple," or "slightly purple."
As for the specs, the Pixel 3a will sport a 5.6-inch display and a 3,000 mAh battery, while the Pixel 3a XL will have a 6-inch screen and a 3,700 mAh battery. Under the hood, there'll be 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native storage to work with. They're also equipped with 12.2-megapixel Dual Pixel cameras and eight-megapixel front snappers, as well as squeeze-sensitive sensors called Active Edge and fingerprint readers on the back. They'll run on Android 9 Pie from the get-go too.
Now these corroborate past leaks and rumors. In other words, they pretty much said the same thing. However, the new leak didn't mention anything about the rumored Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 for the Pixel 3a or the Snapdragon 710 for its larger sibling. It also didn't include the phones' screen resolutions, but if a previous leak from Google turns out to be the real deal, the Pixel 3a will have a 2,220 x 1,080 display, while the Pixel 3a XL will have 2,160 x 1,080.
Rumored Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL Price
Another leak that recently came out may have revealed the pricing options of the phones. The YouTube channel This is Tech Today got its hands on pictures of what seems to be an authentic Pixel 3a box. According to it, the Pixel 3a will have a starting price of $399 in the United States, and the Pixel 3a XL will start at $479.
Of course, it's hard to say if this is legitimate or not, so as always, it's recommended to take this with a grain of salt.
Google is expected to take the wraps off the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL on May 7 at its 2019 I/O developer conference, so it won't be long until the official details are out.
