2019 was an exciting year in gaming for PC and console gamers alike, but 2020 may just be one of the biggest years in gaming, with 2020 celebrating the end of the era of Playstation 4 and Xbox One, and the coming of the age of Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X. Nintendo Switch and PC players also have much to expect this 2020, with new installments for one Switch's biggest titles and another for another well-loved favorite. Here's a list of our own personal top 5 most anticipated titles, and some special mentions too.

5 of Our Most Anticipated Games of 2020

In no specific order, here are 5 of our own personal most anticipated titles, as well as our recent coverage for each game.

  1. Final Fantasy 7 Remake - March 3, 2020
The Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been one of the most exciting news from Square Enix. Released way back in January of 1997, it remains one of the most-loved installments of the series to date. With producer Yoshinori Kitase saying that the game has surpassed his own expectations and game Director and Concept Designer Tetsuya Nomura promising new bosses and aspects to bring something fresh to the story, we can't help but get hyped.

  2. The Last of Us: Part II - May 29, 2020
Naughty Dogs once showed just what they could do with the PS3's hardware with their gritty 2013 title, and amazed us all once more with their remaster for the PS4. Now, with Naughty Dog promising that Part II will be even more ambitious, and already showing glimpses of how it would feel to play, it's no doubt one of the best-teased games so far. Now, if only they spoiled us a bit more regarding that lesbian kiss between Ellie and Dina.

  3. The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 - TBA
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 is one of the least teased games in this top five but is no less deserving to be here. The original Breath of the Wild was a breath of fresh air, pardon the pun, breaking free from the dungeon-constraints of traditional Zelda games, being their first open-world title. With no real announcements as to when it will be released, we can only keep our fingers crossed that it's sooner rather than later.

  4. CyberPunk 2077 - April 16, 2020
We'd be preaching to the choir if we had to rave at how CD Projekt Red is one of the most loved video-game studios, largely thanks to their Witcher series. With the Witcher 3 being revived thanks to the Witcher Netflix Series, CD Projekt Red is back in the spotlight yet again. Already they are saying that CyberPunk 2077 will be their new Witcher 3, only more ambitious. Will this open-world, open-ended game live up to CD Projekt Red's hype? I'm already calling it now, it will.

  5. Halo Infinite - Q4 2020
Halo Infinite is yet another title we know very little about, but we can't help but keep speculating on. We've been raving over it since its initial unveiling back in 2018, but 343 Industries has been keeping a closed lid on it so far. But honestly, has Microsoft and 343 ever let us down with Halo? Halo Infinite will be both Xbox One's exit title as well as Xbox Series X's biggest launch title, and there's just so much to look forward to.
