The midseason finale of Arrow was a doozy, and puts the heroes of Starling City in a bit of a predicament.

So what happens next? Details on what will transpire during the rest of season three are scarce, but Arrow executive producers Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg did provide a few clues to TVLine. Spoilers ahead!

The big news is that the Suicide Squad will be making their triumphant return on the show, though Kreisberg didn't provide any further details. However, you can likely expect some of the original roster to make a return. Slade Wilson (Deathstroke) and Count Vertigo will also be making their return to the show in the second half of season three.

All these villains give Laurel a reason to take on the mantle of Black Canary, especially after the apparent "death" of Oliver. In fact, Guggenheim tells TV Line that the three episodes following Oliver's death "are among the best we've ever done. They're incredibly compelling." Show producers also hint that the H.I.V.E. storyline will be revisited in the remainder of season three.

Those are some high expectations being set for a show that has been consistently great, so it will be exciting to see how Laurel, Felicity and the rest of the crew pull together in Oliver's absence. Of course Oliver will return as Arrow at some point, but not knowing when and having the rest of Starling City's heroes fight on without him for a time is sure to make for some compelling television.

Arrow returns to the CW on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
