Here's how to defeat Azelf and the rest of the Lake Trio.

How to Beat Azelf in Five-Star Legendary Raids

The Legendary Lake Guardians will be available in five-star raids starting this Tuesday, November 24, until Monday, November 30.

Azelf, as well as the rest of the Lake Trio, are pure Psychic-type Pokemon, and they won't be the most challenging five-star raids you'll encounter, nor will they be the most useful Pokemon when it comes to the GO Battle League, as per Attack of the Fanboy.

However, as one of the Legendaries and the rarest Pokemon comes to "Pokemon GO," you'll want to defeat and tame one when given a chance.

So, here's how you can easily defeat the Pokemon Azelf.

Best Counters and Weaknesses

As a Psychic-type, Azelf is vulnerable against Bug, Ghost, and Dark-type Pokemon and attacks, so you'll have a pretty good range of counters for the Legendary lake monster.

Since Mega Evolutions have been added to "Pokemon GO," the best choice for your team against Azelf are some Mega Evolved Pokemon, particularly Mega Gengar, a Ghost-type Pokemon who is a clear favorite against the Psychic-type, with the attacks Lick and Shadow Ball.

Mega Houndoom, a Dark and Fire-type Pokemon in its Mega Evolved state is another favorite pick against Azelf, with the moveset Snarl and Foul Play.

If you don't have enough Mega Energy, you can also use their normal forms as Gengar and Houndoom to defeat the Lake Guardian.

Here are more of the best counters against Azelf with the best moveset (Fast + Charged attacks):

  • Darkrai with Snarl + Dark Pulse
  • Giratina (Origin Forme) with Shadow Claw + Shadow Ball
  • Hydreigon with Bite + Dark Pulse
  • Chandelure with Hex + Shadow Ball
  • Mewtwo (normal or Shadow) with Psycho Cut + Shadow Ball
  • Tyranitar (normal or Shadow) with Bite + Crunch

How Many People Do You Need?

Besides choosing the right Pokemon, you also need some "Pokemon GO" friends to join you on your raid.

But exactly how many trainers do you need?

"Pokemon GO" trainers with max levels, the best counters, and with weather boosted Pokemon on your team, two players are enough to defeat Azelf.

However, if you don't exactly have the odds on your side, then you'll want to invite two to four more people to join you, or even invite more if possible, so you won't struggle that much and can guarantee your win.

How to Defeat Uxie and Mesprit

If you're from Asia-Pacific, Tech Times has a guide on how to defeat Uxie, while Mesprit will be available in India, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Practically, all three "Pokemon GO" Legendaries coming this week are pure Psychic-types, so what works with Azelf with definitely work on Uxie and Mesprit as well.

Besides these Legendary monsters, a few other Pokemon will be spawning more in the wild and hatching on eggs, such as Goldeen (watch out for a Shiny Goldeen!), Psyduck, Magikarp, and more, according to an Pokemon Go Live by Niantic.
