The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) discovered the very first planet that has two stars! It used its Transition Exoplanet Survey Satellite, also known as TESS. BTS fans on Twitter however are making blunt claims about the newly found planet.

"I was looking through the data for everything the volunteers had flagged as an eclipsing binary, a system where two stars circle around each other and from our view eclipse each other every orbit," said Wolf Cukier a NASA Goddard Space Flight Center scientist, via NASA's official website.

He added that he saw a signal from a system called TOI 1338 during his first three days of internship. The researcher added that he thought it was a stellar eclipse. However, they later found out that it was actually a planet.

How NASA discovered the strange pink planet

NASA named the newly discovered planet as TOI 1338 b. It is the first exoplanet that is orbiting two stars at the same time. It currently lies 1,300 light-years away in the constellation Pictor.

The two stars orbit each other every 15 days. The first star is about 10% bigger than the Sun while the second one is only one-third of the planetary body. The second one is also cooler and dimmer.

The strange pink planet is 6.9 times larger than Earth. This means that it is around the same size as Saturn and Neptune. TOI 1338 b orbits in the same plane as the stars. This unique characteristic leads to regular stellar eclipses.

NASA was able to discover it using its TESS' four cameras. These lenses can take a fill-frame image of a patch of the sky every 30 minutes for 27 days. The researchers involved were able to generate graphs of how the brightness of stars changes, thanks to their gathered observations.

Why BTS fans are making a fuss on Twitter?

According to Republic World's latest report, K-pop fans are currently claiming that the new pink planet was first discovered by the BTS group. The netizens even posted tweets, stating that the planet featured in the BTS World album looks exactly like the one that NASA discovered.

The newly discovered pink planet was discovered in 2019. This also the same year that the BTS World album was released. This could be one of the main reasons why the fans are saying this kind of thing.

A Twitter user @Jimin209195 said that it is not a coincidence. He said that the pink planet in the BTS World album looks exactly the same as the one NASA previously discovered.

"This is not a coincidence anymore, first the purple lightning, the blackswan 7 shape in space, the heart-shaped purple planet like BTS world purple heart during lightning during LY era, and now NASA Found a new planet look at the colors it's like BTS World," he said.

However, these are just rumors and theories. NASA has proven for the past years that it is mostly the first one that identifies new celestial bodies and other space discoveries.
