HTC bombarded its fans with a series of teasers that involve Vive, the company's virtual reality headset. It is also reported that it will be featuring a lip tracker.

Since last week, HTC has been releasing teasers through its Vive Twitter account, which drove users to grow curious. Could this be the future of the lip tracking device for the headset? 

HTC Has Been Teasing the Fans Since Last Week

Earlier this week, HTC has reportedly posted a photo where the users found out that it matched with the lip tracking module, which the company revealed during the 2019 Game Developers Conference. The second teaser tweet was called "Express Yourself."

Upload VR was the first to report about the Twitter teaser. It was clear that it was close to the lip tracking device that the company previously announced. This only made fans fall in deep thought whether said feature will now be incorporated to the headset.

During that time, HTC has been planning to use the VR lip tracker for experimentation and research, as per a Road to VR report in 2019. Moreover, it is expected to be merged with HTC's eye-tracking feature, which was already incorporated into the Vive Pro Eye.

The said feature could give a full description of the full face tracking in virtual reality. Before HTC teased the lip tracker's possible integration to Vive headsets, the lip tracker's past version has experimented with social VR apps such as NeosVR.

The common features that a VR can offer are tracking features for the eye, hand, and hands. In line with this, these three tracking features are vital to creating human models or avatars that can interact through movements so that they would appear 'natural' similar to humans.

Previously, Upload VR also reported that HTC has confirmed that it will be producing a standalone headset this year, as said by Alvin Wang Graylin, HTC's President of Vive in China.

Integration of VR to other Headset Brands

Way back in 2019, Facebook has been testing the face-tracking feature for the Oculus headsets. The Verge reported that the company CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, said that the realistic avatars brought to life through the eye and face tracking features are what he envisioned to be VR's future.

There is no official announcement whether HTC will be adopting the lip tracking module for its Vive headsets, but the public knew that it could come sooner or later in 2021. For VR fanatics, these will be a medium of advancement that will take the headsets to a different level.

Besides, we could be seeing another resemblance of the Cosmos headset, which was released last year. The company, at the time, revealed Cosmos Play, the less expensive version of Cosmos. Fans would not forget the Project Proton, a compact VR headset.

Whether you like it or not, HTC is only teasing the fans to build hype and let them expect more. But, this upcoming update might give them a surprise or a disappointment at the very least.
