Sony is making a PlayStation VR with a 4K resolution for the next level of play with the PS5 console, which is a massive step for the console's accessory and additional gaming features. Virtual Reality has been available since the PS4, but recent developments suggest a more refined VR experience for the PlayStation with Haptic Feedback and Foveated Image Rendering.

CES, the world's largest annual consumer technology trade show, runs through January 12 and features about 3,900 exhibitors showing off their latest products and services to more than 170,000 attendees.

The first generation PS VR was developed from the PS Move, a device resembling the Nintendo Wii with the PlayStation 3 which copied movements via the PS Eye, but without the VR glasses. It was in 2016 where the first PS VR was released for the PlayStation 4 and it provides a standard 1080p HD with its 5.7-inch OLED display goggles.

Initially, it was found last year that a PS VR is coming soon, and would join the PlayStation 5 with its release, but sadly, November 2020 has passed and there were no mentions or hints about the device. PS VR 2 has been most awaited by fans, especially those who enjoy a virtual reality that centers on them while playing the story of the game.

A PSVR 2 patent has been submitted by Sony.

The PlayStation VR has been five years in its release since 2016, and the rumors have been circulating since then for the new edition of the PS VR. There are no names that were revealed in the leaks and speculations, only calling the device "PS VR 2." Still, speculations have revealed been mentioning the device, allegedly under development from Sony.

According to a patent from Sony (obtained by Let's Go Digital), the next PS VR would have a haptic feedback feature, or vibrations felt whenever there is a move, danger, or alert in the game. Moreover, it also suggested that the display of the device would be in the 1440x2160p or 4K resolution, which would match that of modern displays.

Moreover, to protect the eyes, UploadVR suggested that the PlayStation VR 2 would have something called "Foveated Image Rendering," which is a form of rendering that fixates on the eye's focus. it would pixelate or blur the surrounding areas of the display so that the eyes would not get strained that much, with a display close to the organ.

When is the New PS VR Coming?

Watching eSports could soon be a more dynamic experience for Sony PlayStation VR owners, as detailed in two patents. The problem is, patents don’t always become real products or features.

While the leaks and speculations of the device suggest that it is coming soon from PlayStation, the actual release date from the company remains unknown as the device is under heavy secrets. Even the leakers and speculators have no idea when the PS VR is coming, and none can claim that it would come for this year.

This suggests that may the PS VR is not coming anytime this year, particularly because it is still under development or designing from the company, and not yet actually in production of its prototypes. It is important to take these leaks and speculations with a grain of salt, as nothing has been confirmed by Sony as of this moment.
