Dr. Anthony Fauci has advised people with complete COVID-19 vaccine dosages to still "wear a mask," especially when traveling to places with low vaccination rates to avoid getting infected. Despite completing the dose, there are still high chances of getting infected as there is no 100 percent protection, and only 99 percent of COVID deaths come from the unvaccinated.

COVID-19 is still something to watch out for and pay close attention to especially during this time of immunization, where not everyone is willing to take the vaccine and get protected.

WASHINGTON, DC - MAY 26: Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, listens during a Senate Appropriations Labor, Health and Human Services Subcommittee hearing looking into the budget estimates for National Institute of Health (NIH) and state of medical research on Capitol Hill, May 26, 2021 in Washington, DC.

In the recent interview by NBC's "Meet the Press" with Dr. Fauci, Chuck Todd has opened up several questions which led to the NIAID director to urge people to wear a mask. Here, Fauci has insisted the public still wear protective coverings and observe different safety protocols, especially when going to places with low vaccination rates.

Ever since the country distributed the immunization drug amongst the public, mask regulations have been dropped as it was initially believed that it is already safe to send people out.

However, the threats brought by the Delta Variant have caused a lot of new infections and cases, even to those who have already been fully vaccinated.

Vaccine Not 100 Percent Effective in Protection Against COVID-19

Dr. Fauci has also regarded that COVID-19 vaccination shots may offer high efficacy rates or low chances of contracting the virus, but it is not 100 percent effective in protecting people.

Fauci regarded that nothing is 100 percent, or absolute in this world, and even though the vaccine is too good to be true, it still cannot fully protect against the coronavirus.

Fauci said that the country can vaccinate everybody who wants to get the immunization shot, but there are people which refuse treatment for the vaccine and are actively denying its administration. He also added that people outside the US are willing for its administration, but cannot receive it due to supply and distribution problems in their nation.

99 Percent US Deaths are from Unvaccinated

The NIAID director also added that 99 percent of the US deaths in terms of COVID-19 cases came from the unvaccinated. This statement is factual, especially back in 2020 where there were no vaccines present, and the death toll has increased a lot for the entire world.

The comparison that they have now only strengthened the fact that vaccines have contributed a lot in protecting people against COVID, but it is not enough especially with progressive variants such as the Delta. For now, the world needs to take a step back in leisure and ramp up vaccination to fully give people the immunity they need.
