SAN FRANCISCO, CA - OCTOBER 04: Rick Osterloh, SVP Hardware at Google Inc., speaks during an event to introduce the Google Pixel phone and other Google products on October 4, 2016 in San Francisco, California. Google is making the jump into the mobile device market in an attempt to challenge the Apple iPhone in the premium smartphone category.

Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro with Tensor Chip

On Aug. 2, Google teased a preview of the upcoming flagship Android phones keeping other specification details undisclosed.

The tech giant also released official photos of the device, putting an end to speculative renders of the smartphone.

However, it is to note that the huge camera bar that earlier leaked renders revealed turned out to be accurate based on the latest official photos straight from the Pixel phone maker.

As per The Verge, the search engine giant decided to highlight their new in-house system-on-chip, also known as an SoC, which will debut inside the next-generation Pixel phones.

The Google Pixel 6's Tensor Chip borrowed the name from the tech that the search engine behemoth uses for its data centers, known as the TPU, an abbreviation of Tensor Processing Units.

Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro Pre-Launch Details

Aside from the Google-designed SoC, with details still hiding in mystery, the internet giant also revealed that the top-of-the-line Pixel 6 Pro will feature a 120Hz refresh rate 6.7-inch QHD+ display.

The screen will still carry a punch-hole design for the selfie snapper of the smartphone.

However, it is worth mentioning that Google already filed a patent that boasts its take on the under-display camera technology.

On the other hand, the cheaper Pixel 6 will sport a 90Hz refresh rate 6.4-inch FHD+ display. This regular variant of the series lacks a telephoto shooter that the higher-end model readily has.

On top of those specs, Google also confirmed that the Pixel phones are getting colorful options outside the usual hues. The upcoming devices will be available in colors pale-yellow, pink, and bluish-gray, LaptopMag reported.

Google Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro Launching in 8 Countries

XDADevelopers spotted the landing pages of the Google Pixel 6 lineup, which confirmed that the upcoming Android phone is coming to these eight countries: Australia, France, Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Taiwan, and Japan.

Top Smartphone Markets Missing

However, two of the top smartphone markets are missing from the list of locations.

As per Statistica, China, followed by India, sits on top of the largest buyer of smartphones globally in 2020, with 912 million and 439 million users, respectively.

Also, another significant consumer of phones, Indonesia, which grabs the third spot, lagging behind the U.S., is missing from the list.

But it is worth noting that two predecessors of the upcoming Android devices, the Pixel 4 and the Pixel 5, did not make it to India as well. Instead, the second most populated country in the world got the more affordable Pixel A devices.
