OPPO could be setting up an under-screen camera that comes with some AI trickery as well as high-precision OLED manufacturing! Until just recently, there was just one smartphone on the market equipped with yet another under-screen camera known as 2020's ZTE Axon 20 5G.

OPPO and ZTE

According to the story by Engadget, there are other players like Vivo, OPPO, and Xiaomi that have also been testing out some future tech. However, given the previous subpar image quality, it is still no wonder that most phone makers are still largely stuck with the classic punch-hole camera to take selfies.

Despite a lot of criticism for the first under-screen camera, ZTE has previously worked what it reportedly claims to be an improved version to the company's new Axon 30 5G, which had just launched in China. Quite coincidentally, OPPO decided to unveil its very own third-gen under screen camera which, as seen on photos of the smartphone, could look promising.

OLED Pixels

The images of the phone show no noticeable haziness or glares. The AI tricks as well as display circuitry has made it possible are now intriguing, according to the article. Oppo is also planning to change the foldable smartphone market with more devices expected to be launching.

In a nutshell, there has still been nothing that was changed in terms of just how the whole under-screen camera sees through the phone's screen. Its performance is reportedly limited to how much light can travel through the gaps between the different OLED pixels.

AI Compensation OPPO

AI compensation, therefore, should still go on. For the latest under-screen camera, however, OPPO notes that it actually trained its very own AI engine through the use of tens of thousands of photos in order to get the most accurate corrections when it comes to diffractions, white balance, and even HDR.

Another noteworthy improvement is reportedly the display panel's consistency. The earlier designs reportedly chose to lower the pixel density in the area located above the camera. This is in order for enough light to get into the sensor. OPPO is reportedly flaunting the OnePlus and Find X series with more devices expected to launch.

OPPO 400-ppi Pixel Density

It reportedly resulted in a noticeable patch located above the camera. This would then have been a major turn off when users watch videos or even read fine text on the screen. As of the moment, OPPO, or maybe even Samsung, has figured out a way for them to boost light transmittance by just slightly shrinking the geometry of every single pixel above the camera.

In other words, users will still get to keep the exact same 400-ppi pixel density like the rest of the screen which would create a more consistent look. OPPO had just added that this is now further enhanced by a whole transparent wiring material along with the one-to-one pixel-circuit-to-pixel architecture.

An article by Gadgets.ndtv.com said that the high-precision manufacturing process would offer the devices a much finer display quality along with a much smoother visual experience, according to OPPO.
