Britain's tax agency announced last month that Google would pay a £130 million (166 million euro, $187 million) tax settlement for 10 years' operations in Britain where it makes 11 percent of its global sales. Finance minister George Osborne hailed the agreement as a victory. But there was a barrage of criticism, including from within Prime Minister David Cameron's own Conservative Party as the announcement coincided with a key tax filing deadline for many Britons.

Google Pay allows you to make purchases using your phone. Aside from saving your credit card details, it also can store your loyalty and membership card.

Google Pay Can Store Membership Cards

The Google Pay service can store your membership and loyalty card so you can leave the physical one at home and still be able to enjoy the membership perks.

First, download Google Pay from the Play Store and make sure that you download the latest version and not the old one, according to PCMag.

Once you've signed up, tap the card icon seen in the top-right corner of the "Pay" section. The icon will appear as a credit card if you have on stored in your account. At the bottom of your phone screen, choose "Add a Card."

From the drop-down menu, tap "Loyalty." Look for the establishment to which the card belongs and select it. A camera viewfinder will be activated to scan the barcode of your membership card, according to How to Geek.

As soon as your card is added, it will appear with the barcode, ready to be scanned. Google Pay will also display details about the business below the barcode.

Sending Money Through Google Pay

Not only can you pay via Google Pay, but also send money to people. You can quickly transfer money to anyone who has a verified Google Pay account, according to Business Insider.

To do so, open the Google Pay app on your phone and make sure you have the "Pay" tab open. At the top of the "Pay" section is the "People" option, and tap "Find People to Pay."

There are different ways that you can find the person that you want to make a payment to. You can tap "Scan QR Code" to scan the personal Google Pay code of the person.

You can also search their name, email address, and phone number at the top of the screen. If the person has a Google Pay account, they will show up. You will be given an option to invite them if they don't have an account.

If the person has an active Google Pay account, tap their name from the results, and a screen similar to messenger will automatically pop up. At the bottom, tap "Pay" to start sending money.

Type the amount of money you want to send, and you can add a note if you want to. Once you are done, select the blue checkmark on the screen.

A confirmation message will show up, and you can choose a different payment method if you wish to. If the person is not on your contact list, Google will let you know so you can add them for easier transactions in the future.

The transfer process will take a few seconds. Once it is done, Google Pay will let you know how much was sent and when the process was finished.

The transfer will appear on the messenger screen with the person that you sent the payment to.
