NEW YORK, NY - OCTOBER 15: The new Google Pixel 4 smartphone is displayed during a Google launch event on October 15, 2019 in New York City. The new Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL phone starts at $799 and will begin shipping on Oct. 24.

The search engine titan behind the Pixel smartphone series has had a tradition of releasing a device for the budget-conscious folks out there. And even though there are rumors that Google is leaving them behind this 2021, the Pixel 5A is still here, currently available for pre-orders in the United States and Japan at the price of $449.

It is to note that Google first announced that the Pixel 5A 5G is coming, denying rumors that were spreading that it has been canceled, The Verge reported.

Google has become true to its promise, and now the Google Pixel 5A is a few days away from its actual shipping.

That said, here is a spec-by-spec comparison of the Google Pixel 5A and its predecessor, along with the budget-conscious crowd phones, the Google Pixel 4A.

Google Pixel 5A vs. Pixel 4A 5G

As per CNET, Google always does this with their smartphones, stripping the previous flagship phone to make it the mid-range counterpart in the current year. Yet again, that is the case with the Pixel 5A as it was in the Pixel 4A.

That's not the only similarities that the Pixel 5A and the 4A carry. There are other notable features that the newer mid-range device still sports.

Google Pixel 5A vs. Pixel 4A 5G: Performance

First off, the chipsets.

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 765G powers both the 5A and the 4A, the same processor that the flagship Pixel 5 flaunted upon its release.

Android Authority noted that OnePlus Nord and LG Velvet also sported the Snapdragon 765G, the 7nm mid-range chip of Qualcomm, which handles day-to-day smartphone tasks just fine.

Aside from the same chipset, both the 5A and the 4A run an Android 11. Not to mention that their RAM and storage are likewise at 6 GB and 128 GB, respectively.

Google Pixel 5A vs. Pixel 4A 5G: Display

The Pixel 5A flaunts a slightly bigger OLED display than the 4A, sized at 6.34 inches to be precise, whereas the latter features a 6.1-inch screen.

The overall size of the Pixel 5A is also a little larger than the older budget phone. Meanwhile, its weight is heavier at 183g, while the latter is at 168 grams.

Google Pixel 5A vs. Pixel 4A 5G: Battery and Camera

The newer Pixel 5A carries an impressive 4,680 mAh battery along with its slim body--outperforming the 3,800 mAh pack of the 4A.

Although the front cameras of the two phones are both 8-megapixels, the rear shooters tell a different story. The 5A gets a 16-megapixel ultra-wide and a 12-megapixel dual pixel, whereas the 4A only carries a 12.2-megapixel snapper and a 16 megapixel ultrawide.
