"Fortnite" players will find it hard to recognize the game soon (albeit temporarily) as Epic Games is making a massive change to their massively popular battle royale title.

According to PC Gamer, Epic has turned off the Building mechanic for the time being. This comes after numerous requests for a "no-build mode" have been suggested in the past numerous times. And as per the game's lore, there's an explanation for it that can only happen in a game like "Fortnite."

Here is the latest story trailer for "Fortnite" Chapter 3 Season 2, where the aforementioned "lore explanation" for the removal of Building is given:

For some reason, the game's bad guy faction known as the Imagined Order possesses a gizmo capable of destroying all the buildings that players use for defense. Now, the players will have to deal with not having their makeshift fortresses, but they won't be alone.

Marvel Comics' Dr. Strange comes through a portal with Iron Man, Black Widow (or at least it looked like the MCU version) and a bunch of other crossover characters to fight against the Imagined Order.

This change is part of Epic Games' "All Battle, No Building" challenge which now shifts the entire energy of the game. No more will players be able to just build fortifications; they will be forced to fight out in the open and use whatever already exists to their defensive advantage. That's all alongside their foremost goal to get the Building mechanics back as part of the Resistance.

According to The Gamer, the removal of the Building mechanic will only last for the entire current week. So if you're a big fan of "Fortnite's" Building mode, you don't have to despair as it will be back once the limited-time event has concluded.

But should this become popular, as per the original PC Gamer report, it could very well be a permanent optional mode moving forward.

So, "Fortnite" building mode is gone for the time being. And for some reason. Dr. Strange is there (likely part of the early promos for the upcoming MCU film "Multiverse of Madness"). But what else is "Fortnite" Chapter 3 Season 2 going to bring?

If you're still not aware, Chapter 3 Season 2 is scheduled to launch by March 20th 2022, at 7PM UTC (via Roccat). It will last until June 3rd and will feature the theme called Resistance (already explained during the prior paragraph).

Downloading the update won't be too much trouble in terms of file sizes. The PC update file size is the biggest at 16.3 GB, which is followed by the current-gen and last-gen Xbox consoles (9 GB for the Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One); PS4 (7 GB), PS5 (6.75 GB), Nintendo Switch (6 GB), and Android (2.96 GB).
