Nikon is clarifying its statement that recently talked about the halt on its SLR development, which made waves in the camera industry and among those who prefer its technology over others. The Japanese tech company is one of the largest camera manufacturers in the world, and for a long time, its SLR cameras became its frontrunner in the industry.

Mirrorless cameras may be the future, but not everyone wants the technology for their preferences.

An attendee uses a DSLR camera in the Nikon booth during CES 2020 at the Las Vegas Convention Center on January 7, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada. CES, the world's largest annual consumer technology trade show, runs through January 10 and features about 4,500 exhibitors showing off their latest products and services to more than 170,000 attendees.

Nikon released a statement online addressing massive speculation regarding its SLR development that will supposedly cease once it focuses its ventures toward mirrorless cameras. Now, the company confirms that there will be no changes to its single-lens reflex (SLR) and DSLR development in the current focus.

The Japanese camera company said that the company is not withdrawing its SLR from its shops and manufacturing. Here, they said that the report that talked about pulling out its SLR is only speculation.

"Nikon is continuing the production, sales and service of digital SLR. Nikon appreciate your continuous support."

Nikon to Still Focus on Mirrorless, Alongside the SLR

According to TechCrunch, Nikon may have released a statement like this regarding its continued release of the DSLRs and SLR cameras. Still, usually in situations like this, they talk about new products. Now, TechCrunch borders again on speculating on Nikon, especially with no more recent releases as it focuses on its business towards mirrorless cameras.

Nikon and the Mirrorless Cameras

Nikon still brings some top-performing cameras to the market, and the company is a known industry giant even during the early days of image-capturing devices worldwide. Now, Nikon's modern cameras bring one of the world's fastest and most performance-based devices, with one camera having more than 1,000 FPS on its sensors.

While Sony, Canon, and Fujifilm are famous for their takes on the mirrorless cameras in the industry, that does not mean Nikon is not one to develop their take on the devices. Nikon's Z FC is a camera with a retro-designed body, but it should not confuse the public as it comes with all the modern features, including a mirrorless setup, a DX sensor, and more.

Now, there was initial news that Nikon is focusing its manufacturing and development on the mirrorless transition that will bring the new age of cameras to the company. However, it is still not letting go of the SLR development and business in total, as the company confirmed now that it would live on with its releases and devices.
