Amazon Prime Air drones are expected to come to Texas in late 2022. Last month, the e-commerce giant said that its drone deliveries would be available for residents of Lockeford, a town in California.

Amazon's drone delivery is expected to roll out later this year, and this would first come to Texas.

According to CNBC's latest report, Amazon said that it will finally launch its drone delivery service to Texas later this year, particularly at College Station.

To successfully do this, Amazon sought help from Texas A&M University to deploy the aerial machines. Free drone delivery is also waiting for College Station and Lockeford residents.

Amazon Drone Boast Faster Delivery Time

Speaking of Amazon Prime Air drones, the company said that their machines could carry an item weighing five pounds. It won't take an hour to deliver a package to the shopper.

Additionally, the drones are expected to fly up to 400 feet with a speed of 50 miles per hour. Amazon also explains how the delivery system works.

First, the company will designate a drone to a particular location where it will deliver the item. It will slowly descend to the backyard and safely hover there.

From here, the package will be dropped off thanks to its device. Then, it will lift off once again and fly back to the company's base.

Amazon Drone Service Setbacks

In 2013, the tech firm was only testing its drone delivery program to see if it would fit its strategy. At the time, former CEO Jeff Bezos said that the Prime Air drones were expected to be usable in 2018.

However, the Amazon drone deliveries were reportedly slowing down because of some issues that they faced. For instance, the machines have already crashed, which resulted in a fire in Oregon.

Other than that, the company also pointed out that the high turnover was making the job more difficult than expected.

Amazon to Recruit Britain-Based Workers

In other news, Reuters reported that Amazon announced that 4,000 new employees from the UK would be recruited soon. They will be assigned to Knowsley and Wakefield fulfillment centers.

It should be noted that 56% of the British operations team's new labor force were previously unemployed.

Amazon aims to reach more than 75,000 workforces in Britain as the hiring push continues. The employees will be assigned to operational tasks, engineering, software development, and more.

The decision to recruit more people comes amid the massive inflation and continuous lay-offs across the tech industry.

As an example, Netflix and Microsoft had reportedly cut off job spots because of the worsening economy in several countries.
