The NASA James Webb Space Telescope encountered the gas giant, Jupiter, in a different glow and color, and it is unlike the usual look of the largest planet in the Solar System. It is still the same gas giant of the system, but it presents a different look from its regular shades, including some "earthy" colors of brown, orange, red, and white.

It may be an unusual look, but its glowing state is how Jupiter is in space, and how Webb can easily capture objects like this image.

SciTechDaily reported that the NASA James Webb Space Telescope recently captured Jupiter with a different look, and it might have its astronomers initially getting confused about its new glowing appearance. However, when looking closely, users would see the Great Red Spot or the massive storm that can swallow the home planet. 

Its distinct image gives the public an indication that it is Jupiter.

This image comes from the infrared cameras of James Webb, particularly that of the Near Infrared Camera (NIRCam), and its focus is on those in the infrared wavelength range of 0.6 to 5 microns.

The Jupiter depiction in this image is different, and it may seem glowing as the gas giant is captured via infrared photography that focuses mostly on its light.

The JWST also captured its rings, how it glows in its region, stars in its vicinity, and the Europa moon.

What is Happening with Jupiter? JWST Gives Insight

There is nothing wrong with Jupiter, and its glowing image is because of the short-range wavelength from its infrared cameras. It aims to capture the planet's glow and its radiance in its area, as well as the stars that surround it.

NASA's James Webb capabilities are extraordinary for the world now, and there are recognitions for its features and functions that it allows the world to experience. Nevertheless, James Webb's tracking of different objects, including Jupiter, is bringing new light to space objects.
