A Nintendo Wii and GameCube emulator is on its way to Steam Early Access before 2023 ends, Dolphin announced.

It should let gamers play iconic and nostalgic games like "Super Mario Galaxy" on PC, letting them relieve their childhood memories.

Nintendo Wii and GameCube Emulator for PC Gamers is Coming to Steam

The emulator, which lets PC gamers play classic Nintendo Wii and GameCube games, is coming later this year, according to a report by Engadget.

Although playing older Nintendo games on official hardware is quite difficult these days, emulators have made it a bit easier. And this time, one of the most popular emulators of GameCube and Wii games is on its way to Steam.

Given that it is coming to Steam, it not only lets PC gamers play classic Nintendo titles, but it should also let Steam Deck users join the fun.

The developers of the emulator note that they have been working on it for a couple of months already.

"This has been the product of many months of work, and we look forward to getting it into users' hands soon!"

Which Games Are Available?

Engadget notes in its report, citing the store page of Dolphin, that that emulator does not give instant access to your childhood favorite games on Nintendo. Instead, it works like most emulation systems.

Nintendo Gamecube game systems are on sale in the recently opened Toys "R" Us flagship Times Square store November 19, 2001 in New York City. Gamecubes are expected to be hot gifts during the holiday season.

Dolphin made it clear that the "app does not come with games." So when you download it from the Steam store, what you are getting is a mere emulator.

The store page further notes that "you must own an original copy of the game you want to use with Dolphin." It adds that "once you have dumped copies of your games into a compatible format, you can launch them directly in the emulator."

Given that, the possibilities are endless depending on which gaming title you own or plan to buy.

It should let players relive GameCube games like "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker," "Super Smash Bros. Melee" and "Metroid Prime." It could bring back iconic Wii titles like "Super Mario Galaxy" and "The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword." Other titles to look forward to are "Kirby's Epic Yarn," "Super Smash Bros. Brawl," and "Sonic Adventure 2 Battle."

What to Expect from the Emulator

Polygon reports that the upcoming emulator on Steam features a stunning 4K resolution. What's more, it also supports a couple of modern controllers out there.

It comes with nifty features as well, such as multiplayer options and quick saves.

And on top of these, it could also support increased frame rates and widescreen display options depending on the games.
