Amidst the hype behind the Apple Vision Pro and many joining what Cupertino is offering for a more immersive experience, Netflix is joined by two other streaming platforms, YouTube and Spotify, which would not offer an app for the XR. With the Apple Vision Pro launching in several weeks, other developers have looked into translating their current iPhone and iPad apps for the visionOS.

Still, there are no plans for these three streaming platforms to join the dedicated experiences offered to Vision Pro users, despite how it would expand more of their audience.

According to Walter Bloomberg via X, two new streaming platforms are joining Netflix's footsteps in not creating or developing a dedicated app, with YouTube and Spotify reportedly taking a step further with this move. In the post, it was said by Bloomberg that these companies have "no plans" to create a compatible app for the visionOS to run, best known for its immersive experience.

However, it does not end there, Android Central claimed that these three streaming platforms are also blocking the availability of their respective apps to run on the Vision Pro. This is with Apple's previous claim that existing iPhone or iPad apps would be available to access while using the XR headset and do not necessarily have to be visionOS compatible or optimized.

These apps would be in floating windows in the Vision Pro.

Apple Vision Pro's visionOS Gets Multiple Snubs for Apps

The Apple Vision Pro saw a lot of snubs from different platforms, centering on streaming companies that have had run-ins with Cupertino in the past. However, the reason behind this remains unknown, with no versions of its apps available to access natively, and only accessible through the headset's browser.

Apple Vision Pro and the Upcoming Experience

There are plenty of things to do for the Vision Pro, from using the spatial computer as a massive PC meant to do several work needs or personal experiences, down to the fun, entertaining, and gaming features available. All in all, the Vision Pro promises that through the headset, an extended reality is within reach thanks to its augmented and virtual reality offers.

Last year, Apple already offered developers various tools and developers' kits to work with, and this will help ensure that it will be compatible with the device and its OS once it is available. This is known as the visionOS SDK, meant to help improve development that would be specific for the XR headset's use, and this is despite Apple claiming that iPhone and iPad apps would be compatible as well.

Despite this early launch of the visionOS SDK, there are still developers and companies who opted not to revamp their apps for its compatibility with the Apple mixed-reality experiences. It first started with Netflix, but now, YouTube and Spotify unveiled that they are not creating a dedicated app for the Vision Pro, having no plans to bring a native experience, but still accessible via the browser.
