Upon LG's announcement of its new flagship smartphone, the company said that the G4 will not be supporting the Quick Charge 2.0 technology of Qualcomm.

However, LG and Qualcomm have now confirmed that the G4 will in fact be supporting the feature.

LG initially claimed, upon the unveiling of the G4, that the Quick Charge 2.0 technology of Qualcomm was simply not considered as a "must-have" feature for the smartphone. Because the G4 comes with a removable battery, LG decided not to include Qualcomm's battery technology into the device.

There seems to be a change of mind though, as the G4 is said to now be coming with the Quick Charge 2.0 technology upon launch.

Upon LG's manufacturing of the G4, there was no intention by the company to have the smartphone support Quick Charge 2.0 technology. However, with the announcement, the battery technology will now be found on all the consumer-ready devices that will be shipping out to customers soon.

While LG is probably correct that Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 technology is not really an important feature for the smartphone to have, it is nevertheless a welcome addition to the technologies and features that LG has included in its newest flagship smartphone.

Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 technology allows for charging times of up to 75 percent faster compared to the charging times of standard devices. It is a feature of the company's Snapdragon 800 series of SoCs, which means that the Quick Charge 2.0 technology is not limited to a particular brand of devices.

The Quick Charge 2.0 technology is just one more reason for users to purchase the G4, which packs a 5.5-inch QuadHD display and a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, broken down into a dual-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A57 and quad-core 1.44 GHz Cortex-A53 processor. The smartphone will be powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop once it ships out to consumers.

LG has also launched a company's first trial program for the G4. It will allow certain customers to experience using the smartphone before it is released to markets in the United States next month.

People can sign up in the page of the G4 trial program to have the chance to be selected as a trial user. Selected users will be able to receive a G4 smartphone for free, but they will have to undergo certain challenges using the different features of the smartphone, and then will have to post to social media regarding the outcomes of these challenges.
