Zune went out of style at least eight years ago — from that point till now, it has been sitting quietly in tech purgatory, waiting for this day. Microsoft announced Thursday that as of November 15 this year, it will be discontinuing Zune services (something that should have happened at least one president ago).

For those still using the music service, it will continue to work, and any content you own on your device will remain there. You will also still be able transfer files onto the player.

Your Zune Music Pass subscription will be converted to a Groove Music Pass over the course of the next month, giving you access to a library of over 40 million songs. Microsoft has also detailed what the superscription package will look like for current users.

In case you were wondering, Microsoft already stopped manufacturing Zune products in 2011. Now, it's just terminating the full service — which is news but also not really news, depending on how nostalgic you can get on a Thursday afternoon.
