SanDisk, which is owned by storage company Western Digital, has unveiled a record-breaking microSD card that has so many gigabytes of storage you won't know how to fill it up.

SanDisk Has A New MicroSD Card That Packs 400 GB Of Storage

It's called the SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I, packed with 400 GB of space. It's so big that if you put tons of video games, music, movies, and photos, you'll probably still have plenty of space left. It's the biggest capacity card of its type, and it's perfect for smartphone addicts out there who feel that 128 GB, or even 256 GB, just isn't enough.

"We continue to push technology boundaries and transform the way consumers use their mobile devices," said Sven Rathjen, product marketing VP of Western Digital. "By focusing on achieving new technology milestones, we enable consumers to keep up with their mobile-centric lifestyles with storage solutions they trust."

Photographers, too, will likely get this card, put it in an SD card adapter, and stick it inside their DSLRs. Professional photographers know that taking RAW shots take up a lot of space, and 400 GB should be plenty enough.

The 400 GB SanDisk MicroSD Card Is Perfect For Smartphone Addicts

Western Digital says it's ideal for Android smartphone and tablet users. It can hold up to 40 hours of 1080p video and has transfer speeds of up to 100 MB/s. The card also meets the A1 App Performance Class specification, which means it'll load apps faster.

The card itself is also waterproof, shockproof, temperature-proof, and X-ray proof, so it's pretty sturdy. Some counterfeit microSD cards are often prone to breaking, which is not a good scenario. Don't worry, your data is safe with the SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I.

The influx of high-capacity cards is perfect timing, too, since 4K videos are slowly becoming the norm. Many phones are now capable of recording 4K video, and needless to say, they eat up storage fast. What's more, over time, it's easy to imagine that these high-capacity cards will get cheaper and cheaper.

The new 400 GB SanDisk microSD card is available now for $249.99, which is rather costly. It does, at least, come with an SD card adapter, which is perfect for photographers. It also comes with a 10-year limited warranty. Get it directly from SanDisk's website or major U.S. retailers.
