Bethesda proves it can do jokes with the announcement of Skyrim: Very Special Edition for Amazon Alexa. However, it is apparently a real thing.

Prior to the game studio's E3 2018 presentation, gamers were already making jokes that the company will definitely make another announcement that is related to one of its beloved titles. Nevertheless, it looks like the developers are aware of what fans are thinking.

Taking Everyone By Surprise

It is remarkable to think that the original game came out in 2011 but it continues to be highly popular until now. Its availability on almost every available platform such as PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch makes it accessible for anyone interested to play the game.

Taking it even further, the company included a funny trailer that showcases its gameplay and features.

A Voice-Controlled Adventure

The trailer stars Keegan-Michael Key as he takes Skyrim: Very Special Edition for a spin. The video starts off with the actor on the couch as he decides what to play.

Eventually, he opts to activate the Amazon Alexa version of the RPG. It continues to poke fun at some of the game's popular features such as when Key yells "Fus Ro Dah" after he encounters mudcrabs.

It appears that his voice command was too soft as the device claims it could not recognize the command. He gets frustrated and pushes stuff off the table while yelling the same command, which was finally recognized by Alexa.

Later on, during a battle with a dragon, he runs out of health potions and opts to eat multiple wheels of cheese to regain health. He utters the command but his wife reprimands him about eating too much dairy.

The video finally closes with additional jokes about the game being ported to platforms such as an Etch-a-sketch, a Motorola pager, and finally, a Samsung Smart refrigerator.

Gamers wasted no time and attempted to launch the game. Surprisingly, it worked on Amazon Alexa-enabled devices. Several Twitter posts confirmed that the feature is active and uploaded videos to prove it.

Amazon Updates Alexa Store Page

There are bound to be skeptics and the game studio knows it. Therefore, Amazon updated its Alexa store page to include instructions on how to play Skyrim: Very Special Edition on compatible devices.

"Bethesda Game Studios is proud to present Skyrim... for Alexa. Yes, that's right, the version of Skyrim you never saw coming has finally arrived on the platform you never asked for," the description reads.
