The free Xbox One and Xbox 360 games for Xbox Live Gold subscribers in the month of September 2018 have been revealed, headlined by Prison Architect and LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars.

Most of the Xbox Games with Gold offerings for August 2018 are still available for download, including Forza Horizon 2 and Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, which will run until Aug. 31. Multiplayer action fighting game For Honor, meanwhile, will extend through next month, and will be available until Sept. 15.

Xbox Games With Gold For September 2018

In an Xbox Wire blog post, Microsoft revealed that for September, the free Xbox One games for Xbox Live Gold subscribers are Prison Architect and Livelock.

Prison Architect, available from Sept. 1 to Sept. 30, tasks players with designing, building, and running a maximum security prison. Not only will players have to make sure that inmates do not escape while providing them with decent lodgings, they will also have to tackle challenges such as riots and fires.

Livelock, available from Sept. 16 to Oct. 15, is a top-down, twin-stick shooter that also offers three-player co-op. Players will be able to explore a post-apocalyptic Earth using one of three different robot types, each with their own weapons and abilities.

For Xbox 360 owners, the free games for Xbox Live Gold subscribers are LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars and Sega Vintage Collection: Monster World.

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is open for downloads from Sept. 1 to Sept. 15. It takes the LEGO formula for video games and applies it to animated series The Clone Wars, with 20 story-based missions featuring massive battles, space combat, and boss fights.

Sega Vintage Collection: Monster World is open for downloads from Sept. 16 to Sept. 30. It is often referred to as the Monster World Collection, and includes three games featuring Wonder Boy, a shape-shifting child on a mission to save the world.

Both Xbox 360 games, as usual, will also be playable on the Xbox One through the console's backward compatibility feature.

Microsoft Launches Xbox All Access Program

The announcement of the Xbox Live Gold free games comes just after Microsoft confirmed the rumored Xbox All Access program.

Customers who subscribe to the Xbox All Access program will be able to receive an Xbox console and subscriptions to Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass, in exchange for a monthly fee spread over two years, with no upfront cost.

Xbox All Access program subscribers will be able to acquire an Xbox One S for $22 per month and an Xbox One X for $35 a month.
