On Apr. 14, Google Assistant Snapshot disappeared widely across all Android devices. The feature was the successor of Google Now, but it had a low usage rate among Android owners.

Google Snapshot Has Been Discontinued

Google Assistant Snapshot was partially hidden in the Google app, so it is often forgotten by Android users. The Discover feed on the leftmost part of Android homescreens debuted in 2018.

The feature offered up the ability to pull in calendar appointments, weather forecasts, reminders, and more notifications into one place, according to The Verge.

In early 2022, Google announced with a notice in its app that Google Snapshot would be leaving the devices, but the company did not reveal a date.

The notice arrived a couple of weeks after a widespread bug had prevented access to the feature for a lot of users.

Now, it seems that Google Assistant Snapshot is finally shutting down. According to 9to5Google that has been tracking the feature's departure from the Google app, some users still saw the Snapshot buttons in Discover and the Google app in late March.

In early April, the buttons disappeared and now the shortcuts are gone for the majority of users. Some users even claimed that Snapshot could no longer be pulled up on Pixel and Samsung Galaxy smartphones across different accounts.

What Does Google Snapshot Do?

Snapshot had the ability to show you the breakdown of your upcoming events, recommendations and weather. It was used to help you get your day sorted.

Recommendations from the feature came in the form of different movies available based on your interests, new recipes that you can try, and even playlists from streaming services that you use, according to Android Police.

Since Google Snapshot was an added function for Google Assistant, it changed its functions and suggestions based on your location, what you have planned, and so on.

Snapshot worked best when the rest of Google's ecosystem was used since it is connected directly to your Gmail to dig up tickets, reservations, and bills. Snapshot also had the ability to pull up your shopping lists and notes that you have made in Google Keep.

Google's Snapshot was available on most devices that were running Android since it was the main part of the operating system. That means that it was available on Galaxy S22.

By default, swiping to the left of the homescreen takes you to the news page. At the top of the page, an icon next to the profile was available.

By tapping the Google Snapshot button, it can bring you to where you want to be. Snapshot was accessed through the app by opening it there and then tapping at the bottom of the screen.

Google Snapshot came with suggestion cards to help users get a feel for the feature. The feature also came with a "For your morning" settings that will take you to a toggle page that has every function that the feature is capable of.

Google Snapshot feature also came with a car reservations feature that allows you to use the feature when you are in a vehicle.
