Google wants to protect Pixel handsets against malware and other security flaws with the new feature.

In a surprising turn of events, Google has dropped an exclusive feature to Pixel devices. This feature works well with the Android Verified Boot feature to guarantee that the handsets are all genuine in the software aspect.

Before you receive your smartphone, it will first undergo several processes. Some Pixel devices are delivered safely to the owners' houses, but some are compromised without them knowing.

According to Wired, the new security feature for Pixel will ensure that you're getting a "factory-fresh" handset with no security flaws.

Sometimes, threat actors can inject malware into an Android phone even before they reach the warehouse. It's important to verify the legitimacy of all the channels where your phone is delivered, including the carrier, shipping company, and more.

There might be third-party codes that could make their way into your device. In doing so, the software of your Pixel phone might be compromised even if it appears flawless from the outside.

Either way, the all-out attacks launched on smartphones can come out as a surprise. The software updates can be a part of a malicious scheme to spy on the victims. At the very least, we never know what the hackers plan to do.

Some assume that security concerns have something to do with the app developers. Others blame Google for having a weak security plan for its products.

It's even possible that this could happen in secondhand markets, not to mention the prevalence of refurbished Android devices sold illegally.

How Pixel Binary Transparency Works

The new Pixel-only security functionality is like a meticulous software checker inside the classroom. It works by ensuring that the code matches the Android OS of a handset.

With this, this feature focuses on thoroughly checking any signs of tampering or security disturbances with a device.

The search engine giant adds that Pixel Binary Transparency presents the ideal process of Pixel installation. It detects if there are unauthorized changes done on the software side.

Google might have already decoded the recipe to lure more users into using Pixel phones. The move to introduce the new security feature is there to crack down on less secure Android OS.
