The rise of deepfake porn has been a problem since last year, but now, it is continuing its trend as it tops search results from renowned search engine platforms including Google and Microsoft's Bing. Through the massive advancements of generative AI, it was made possible to create more realistic images of renowned personalities or of regular people to appear as if they were engaging in lewd acts.

AI's power has made it create virtually unlimited content to appease the imagination of users, with some going as far as sexualizing others for their consumption.

NBC News has shared a report regarding the availability of deepfake porn on top search engines in the world, and that is with Google and Bing. The news agency claimed that this content is rising to the top of search results whenever looking for one in the platforms, and these are nonconsensual edits of the victimized individuals.

In their investigation, NBC News found as many as 36 female celebrities to have deepfake pornography content about them from the Bing and Google search. This centers on keywords like "deepfakes," "deepfake porn," and fake nudes combined with the celebrities' names.

Apart from images, NBC also found that Bing supplied deepfake videos of this explicit content to the top of the results 35 times, while Google displayed it 34 times. There are also underaged celebrities appearing in deepfake porn via Bing.

Google said that it is working on ways to add more safeguards and protections for Search.

At present, Google is the only platform that has a removal request page that will help in removing said deepfake porn from its search results.

Victims and/or their representatives may head to this website to submit a request to take down this nonconsensual content from Google's search engines.

Generative AI has made way for the world to create content easily, and it has both a good and bad side.

While some are using it to better their works, others have been utilizing it negatively, going as far as to exploit and/or sexualize people on the internet.

One of the most famous examples here is for the Twitch streamers who found deepfake pornographic images of themselves online, and this was done without their consent, taking their photos from various social media platforms, and using AI to transform them into vulgar content.

However, it was not only this community that suffers from deepfake porn, with the United Kingdom sharing a discovery regarding AI-generated child sexual abuse images being rampant on the web. Several watchdogs and human rights agencies are now growing concerned about this rise, especially as other AI generators make these creations possible.

While one could expect that top search engines will help block out these explicit media to circulate online, they are wrong, as a recent report discovered the massive availability of these types of deepfake porn online. For now, affected individuals and their representatives may seek to remove them from search engines, with Google pledging to issue more safeguards to stem this problem on its platform.
