Amazon Fire Stick TV 2022: How to Update Official and Sideloaded Apps

Amazon Fire TV is a video streaming device by Amazon. It is created to connect to a TV or monitor and lets you watch your favorite shows and movies via streaming apps like Hulu, Amazon Prime, Netflix, and more.

In order to get the latest features on each app, you need to update both your official and sideloaded apps on your Amazon Fire TV Stick.

Once it is updated, you will see the latest features, and the bugs will be fixed. Here's how to do it.

How to Update the Official Apps on Amazon Fire TV Stick

So what is an official app? They are the ones that you have downloaded and installed from the Amazon App Store on your Fire TV Stick. It can be the streaming services that you use to watch movies and TV shows, according to HowtoGeek.

To update the official apps, you need to choose an update on the app page, and the app will update itself.

First, press and hold the Home button on your Fire TV Stick's remote.

In the menu that pops up, select "Apps" and let the official apps compete for its update.

What If It Does Not Work?

In case the remote is not working, there are ways to quickly fix it. Under the "Your Apps & Games" page, highlight the app that you want to update. Remember, do not open it.

Next, press the Menu button on your remote. You will then see a menu to the right of your screen, choose "More Info." You will see the app store page.

Select the update option to start the updating the app. If you do not see this option and you only see Open, that means that the app version that you want to update is already updated, according to Business Insider.

Once the app is done installing, you will be able to use the most recent version of the app.

How to Update the Sideloaded Apps

Sideloaded apps are apps that are not installed from the official Amazon App store. This means that you will have to manually download the latest versions and install them on your Fire TV Stick afterwards.

In order to do this, you need to jailbreak your Amazon Fire TV Stick. You need to specify the link to download the app, enter the link to the latest version of the app and install it on your Fire TV Stick.

How to Enable Automatic App Updates

For the official apps, you can enable an automatic update feature so they will update on their own when needed. If you would like to activate this option, select Settings from your Fire TV Stick's home screen.

Under settings, choose Applications and select App store. Next, choose Automatic Updates. You should see On, which indicates that the feature has been enabled already.

Once it is enabled, your apps will be updated automatically, and the bugs will be automatically fixed. However, this is only applicable for official apps, not the sideloaded apps.
